The SayItForMe app is intended for those who are challenged with impaired speech, limited or no eye sight, and limited manual dexterity. It is particularly useful when a person is in a medical, acute care, or sub-acute care facility and has difficulty communicating with the staff. It is intended for use on an iPad but can be used on smaller devices.
SayItForMe utilizes the VoiceOver feature of the Apple® iOS devices: iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch. This version was tested on iOS 8.4, 9.3.5, 10.0.2.and 10.3.3 on the iPad Air, iPad 2, iPhone 5, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus. The app can be used in any device orientation.
The app contains 9 large squares, each containing a message and optionally additional text. Touching a square causes VoiceOver to say the message and any additional text set for that square.
At the bottom are 3 smaller rectangles which are "No", "Yes", and "Stop" in that order. Touching the smaller rectangles causes VoiceOver to say the associated word.
The app responds to a shake gesture by playing an siren-like sound and a recording saying "Help me now". A subsequent shake turns off the alert. The alert can be disabled in the Settings. Note: there is no guarantee that the sound level of the device will be high enough to be heard. Older devices may not respond to the shake gesture
